On Buddha’s Being Fat And Poor

The Buddha didn’t do much jogging,

judging by his figurine:

was fat and held a begging dish.

What are we to make of it,

in light of modern obsessions?—

That Health is not the goal of Life?

Or Wealth? Or they’re not physical?

Many of us could not believe,

fettered by what

we’d known.

‘Studies Have Shown,’ someone kept saying.

Yet there was that happy smile on his chops.
