Buddha, Fat And Poor

The Buddha didn’t do much jogging,

judging by this figurine:

was fat and held a begging dish.

What are we to make of that,

in light of modern obsessions?—

That Health need not be the goal of Life?

Or Wealth? Or these are not physical?

Many of us could not believe,

fettered as we were by what

we’d been guided by so long.

‘Studies Have Shown...’ someone kept saying.

And yet there was that smile he wore.
