Knees
A knee is a certain kind of construction,
intended to flex and support.
If you were a carpenter and built such a thing
you’d call it a knee. Prosthetists do.
I have two well-made, natural ones
from the first half of the last century
when God was perhaps at His peak.
They are getting old
and less knee-like daily,
painfully weak and inflexible.
I force them, kneel on them,
sit on them, saying:
Be knees, knees,
be knees.
