Sea Lion Happiness

What a pod of sea lions craves,

barking and neck-wrestling on shore,

as their brothers and aunties ride the waves

to join them, or go back for more,

I am pretty sure, is no more than this:

the brilliant sunshine and summer air,

combers arriving with crash and hiss,

as repeated answers to sea lion prayer.
