If Love Is Not The Answer

How can a hermit be lovable? Me.

How can he truly love anyone? You.

How is it people live who lack

normal connections with others?

Easy:

Just because Love is key for Tom,

Dick, Mary, Harry and others,

mightn’t yet others be rightin’ their ships 

with another tactic entirely?—

meaning and occupation found

in dimensions like thinking:

of the length of life on Earth as mammals,

or Science or Art of any kind, 

Music, Technology, Obsession, Prayer, A Business,

Grasshoppers flying up from a field, Today,

Addiction, Our role in The Cosmos,

and what we can do about it tonight: Relax.

Try and go back to sleep, for Christ’s sake,

knowing these notions are bound to recur.

Be of Good Cheer, then unconscious.
