If Love Is Not The Answer

How can a hermit be lovable? Me.

How can he truly love anyone? You.

How is it people live who lack

normal connections with others?

Easy:

Just because Love is the key for Tom,

Dick and Mary, Harry and others,

mightn’t yet others be rightin’ their ships 

with another tactic entirely?—

meaning and occupation found

in dimensions like thinking

of the length of living on Earth as mammals,

for example, or Science or Art of any kind, 

Music, Technology, Obsession, Prayer, A Business,

Grasshoppers flying up from a field, Today,

Addiction, Our Act in The Cosmos,

and what we can do about it tonight: relax.

Try and go back to sleep, for Christ’s sake,

knowing these notions are bound to recur.

Be of Good Cheer, then unconscious.
