A Good While

I am profoundly and thoroughly happy

to have seen some glee in our swimming pool.

Young people, male and female, both,

all with joy still strong in their bones,

went swimming. Yes, they went swimming.

They took to the water and laughed therein,

in their bathing suits, all splashing about.

When they tired of this, they made more sport:

Women rode on the necks of men,

and getting their balance, stood on their shoulders,

confronting each other with grins, holding hands.

This went on for a good while.

Then they carelessly toppled over.
